Today’s Quote

‘like a boil that can never be cured so long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must be exposed, with all the tension its exposure creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion, before it can be cured.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Blowing Away The Past

One Friend Goes
The other follows
Jumping into a lake of lies
I can’t stay locked up forever
But where else is it that I may go?
May I jump into a patch of lemon licked dandelions?
Watching the brooding clouds pass
Reminiscing about my past
I hate the feeling of lost sensations
Feeling like a blank white page
If I could only jump into the lake,
Just to be with those I love
Foolish,
Is the one who lives in the past
But my memories are ringing in my ears
Pulsating
A piano plays my last goodbyes
The ivories are weightless
But they are heavy with the past
In slow motion
The landscapes pass
Staring out of a car window
My blank face stares off, a thin reflection looks back at me
I blow the petals of the rose goodbye
The wind grasps them
And steals them from my heart.

Getting more subscribers

Problogger Post on Getting more subscribers

It sounds like a tricky question but it really isn’t. The main reason why people would subscribe to a blog is because they like what they see and they don’t want to miss out on possible cool information in the future. So you need to convince your readers that you will have valuable information in the future.

Easier said than done. But I’m sure a big step to that is to build credibility. Don’t saturate your posts with opinion, instead reveal the information in your light of view and let the reader decide what they want to think themselves; they don’t need anyone doing it for them, and they certainly won’t be forgiving. It takes a long time to gain loyal readers, but a matter of seconds to lose them for good. Scary, huh?

The Pros of Journalism

If you’re someone that wants to be a journalist in the nearby following years, than you and I are alike. Hopefully if you have done research on the brutal career you haven’t been scared away. It sounds really tough, but a lot of journalists claim that it is very rewarding, not in terms of money though. But hopefully you are not willing to sacrifice your life for an extra bulky paycheck, it’s not worth it.

The Industry has made it quite obvious that journalism is tough, so today I am going to focus on the positive inspirational aspects of the career.

In journalism, you can recreate stories using words, graphics, photos, and creative designs. There is a lot of freedom in writing, which means you have tons of choices. “I realized sometime in college that going into journalism meant I’d essentially be paid to learn new things, and then to share those learnings with others. What could be better?”–Link

I’m still a passionate journalist because I believe in the power of the media to affect positive change in society. Journalists play a vital role in that change as watchdogs, but — even more importantly — our stories and photographs influence how people in society view one another.”

In addition to day by day gathering facts and tidbits that eventually will turn into a story, I love the spontaneity of this job. I often come to the office expecting to spend the day working on one thing, but then something breaking happens and I am the reporter assigned to tackle the story.”

As a child, that was my standard reply to adult inquiries about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to be a journalist, so perhaps I was born with all the ingredients: Passion for reading. Passion for language. Passion for truth. Passion to make a difference. Curiosity bordering on nosiness.”

As a reporter, I’m never sure what I will be doing on any given day. Yet I do know that I will be able to play some role in shaping my newspaper’s coverage and in changing the lives of the many people who live here.”

But mostly I’ve been changed by having to negotiate, day in and day out, with people whose values are different from mine. When you articulate your principles and listen to others’, you broaden your perspective and become a better journalist.

For newspapers, trust is difficult to build but easy to lose. We need to earn that trust every day from loyal readers and, more importantly, from those who have not yet found a reason to pick up the paper.”

“Being a journalist is a lot of fun. You get to meet a lot of new people, eat a lot of free food, and everyone has to be nice and say flattering things to you no matter how they really feel. In fact, it is a lot like being in a wedding, except you have don’t get to fool around at the end (usually) and then you have to write about it.” –Link

I hope you enjoyed the quotes, they are true but easy to accept.

Being a Fervant Worker…Probably doesn’t last for so long

So this is what it feels like, having a new job. I am so eager to do anything! How long will this last? Being a cashier at a grocery store is so thrilling, unless there are no customers. I got my first paycheck yesterday, it was really exciting. Even if it was only $82. Sooner or later, at the least within this year, I am not likely to be so fervent. I have a small collection of wise versus, to keep me on track. Let’s just hope I’ll remember to refer to these when the time comes.

Colossians 3:22

“Do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come to your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work”.

Ecclesiastes 5:18

“Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life… Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what’s given and delighting in the work”.

7:14

“On a good day, enjoy yourself; on a bad day, examine your conscience. God arranges for both kinds of days so that we wont take anything for granted”.

Hope you enjoyed! (Version: The Message)
